In US, Wii Sports sells over 500,000

In just nine days, the game passed the 500,000 mark according to Nintendo's internal tracking numbers.

Through Monday we sold one copy of Wii Sports Resort roughly every 1.5 seconds continuously since it launched in the United States,” said Cammie Dunaway, Nintendo of America’s executive vice president of sales and marketing. “This tells us consumers were eagerly waiting to get their hands on these fun activities, and it’s a great start for a game that will have long-lasting appeal.”

Wii Sports resort is Nintendo's first game to utilize the new Motion Plus controller, it is also the sequel to the best selling game of all time, Wii Sports. Nintendo took a huge risk when it placed all bets on the table and manufactured the Wii. And although hardcore gamers are very disappointed with the company's lack of support for the them (including me), you can't deny the fact that the console is a major cash cow for Nintendo.
