1.8 Million Final Fantasy Units Shipped In Japan

The hype has been building for years, and now the game is finally here. Square-Enix isn't taking any chances either, so in an effort to prevent shortages, the company has made available 1.8 million copies of the game for PS3 in Japan.

Several launch events were held at different locations around the land of the rising sun with hundreds of people in line. There are reports that the crowds for Final Fantasy XIII were seemingly larger than those of Dragon Quest IX earlier this year. Official sales numbers haven't been released but as soon as they're in, GamesThirst will make them available to you.

The game is out in the west on March 9th, 2010.
