Insomniac on the future of R&C: "Never say never"

It's deemed as the last game in the Ratchet and Clank franchise, and that rumor has fans of the game perturbed; but according to creative director of the R&C franchise Brian Allgeier, folks should "never say never."

Speaking to the US PS Blog, Brian was asked a question posed to him by one of the blog's readers.

US PS Blog reader: Hey Insomniac, is this the final Ratchet and Clank game, or is it the final Ratchet and Clank game in the future series?

"Yeah we get that question quite a bit and I think a lot of it is because when I talked about A Crack In Time, for the ending of this game we really want to give fans a sense of closure and with the previous two games we've always given people cliffhangers," Brian responded.

"And so some people were a bit frustrated - just want to know what happens next so this time around we've decided to really finish the story-ark that we began with Tools of Destruction."

Here's where the hope comes in for all you R&C fans:

"But you know, again we're big fans of the Ratchet and Clank franchise and we love making these games and like we tell people never say never - but at the same time, A Crack in Time will definitely be that sense of closure that people want."

See the full thing after the jump. The games out today.

New Weapon for Ratchet & Clank is revealed at Comic-Con

If you can’t wait for this awesome long running PS3 exclusive coming this fall, here’s some video to quench your thirst in the meantime. Brian Allgeier, the game’s creative director talks about the fan submitted idea for a weapon “spiral of death” which actually made it into the final version, and looks darn cool from my viewpoint.

The ‘deadly yo-yo’ as he describes it surely does a lot of damage to your enemies reaping through any and everything in its path. This fall is sure packed with blockbuster games. I’m a long time fan of Ratchet and Clank, there’s no doubt I’ll grab this hot number on day 1. While I wait though, I see no reasons to be thirsty; there’s just so many excellent titles rolling out for both the PS3 and 360 this fall, many wallets will suffer.
