Gran Turismo 5 Aiming For A Summer 2010 Release

Can you honestly remember how long ago it was when Gran Turismo 5 was announced? Polyphony Digital already teased players with the depressingly titled Gran Turismo 5: Prologue but what PS3 owners were really clamoring for was the full game.

During a short demo presentation of GT5 earlier this week, Hinojosa-Miranda re-confirmed the March 2010 release for Japan. He then also revealed that Sony was eying a vague "Summer 2010" release. Hopefully this means players will be able to have the disc in their consoles before Santa makes his rounds again next year.

Hinojosa-Miranda had also mentioned that he was traveling the U.S. in the coming week to photograph cars for Polyphony's reference material. With nearly 1,000 cars in the game, it's not that big of a stretch to think that they may still be working to flesh out the game's roster. And while he wouldn't confirm how far along they were towards completing Gran Turismo 5's development, he did say this work wasn't necessarily for the current game.

Playable demo of GT5 date confimed

If you've been wondering how long you'll have to wait to get your Gran Turismo 5 thirst quenched, it won't be much longer.

According to the EU PS BLOG, a playable GT5 demo will release on December 17th.

"It will be the first opportunity to get a first hands-on tester to what Yamauchi-san and his Polyphony team have been carefully crafting and polishing at their Tokyo base," this according to the Blog.

The download is a GT Academy 2010 trial, through which you can get into the GT Academy just as in real cars.

You'll be invited to a national event if you qualify in the top twenty within your country.

Get the full vibe through the link.

Ride Bikes in GT5, seriously

Polyphony Digital Boss Kazunori Yamauchi wasn't playing around when he said, GT5 will be grand. We believed the San, was but bike grand? They're not joking over at Polyphony.

"If that's what users really want in the game, I think that's a possibility," Kazunori said when asked if them two wheelers will end up in the game.

"Or we could consider making a Tourist Trophy 2 as well," he said.

The Playstation 2's Tourist Trophy was a riding simulator, alongside GT's driving simulator.

Buy it in March exclusively for the PS3. Yeah we know you already knew you that.

Video Thirst: Watch the Toyota FT-86 burn some rubbers in GT5!

Ah, beautiful video of the FT-86 concept car on the track, graphics are realistic as they get and the scenery makes you want to jump in a ride, (one that belongs to you) to enjoy some "joyriding" of your own. Now if only we had a solid release date, it'd make my day and yours, but for now we'll have to enjoy whatever's sent our way, oh the plight of an impatient gamer!

Kazunori Yamauchi: GT6 will be released faster than GT5

Fans have waited many years to test drive the next installment of the Gran Turismo series, and finally next year their thirst will be quenched. The highly anticipated racing simulator will launch in Japan March 31st of 2010, and soon following will be the North American and European territories. The length between each Gran Turismo release has been reasonable, but for the PS3, it's been extremely painstaking. Polyphony Digital recognized the dilemma, hence the release of Prologue, which although being a well produced demo, went on to sell over 3 million copies, a testament to Gran Turismo's immense popularity. Kazunori has heard the cries of gamers, and according to him, the next game will be out noticeably faster.

The GT boss has been making media stops on major gaming websites, and in a recent interview with joystiq, Yamauchisan explained:

"Gran Turismo 5 is a title that was pretty much remade from scratch, but because we did that, the next version is actually going to be faster - the time period it's going to be released," Yamauchi said. "But I think when Gran Turismo 5 comes out, we're still going to have things that are left undone, and whether we complete that in Gran Turismo 6, or the next version for PSP, I'm not sure yet."

Kazunori it seems, flourishes in hard work, and has no intension of slowing, and although we here at Gamesthirst believe in taking a break every now and again, I must confess It feels good to know GT's boss has no mind of quitting, at least not yet. He went on:

"I've been working very hard for the last 15 years, and I think that hard work is only going to continue."

Keep working Sir, take a vacation once in a while, but you just keep on working.

Gran Turismo 5 set to launch in December?

This game might just come sooner rather than later. Last week, PlaystationLifestyle reported that Amazon.com had listed GT5 for release on December 29th 2009. Well, according to GTPlanet, they have a "secret source" that debunks Amazone tentative date but, GT5 will be released this year.

According to them, this “unofficial but extremely reliable source,” says the date will most likely be announced in August at the 2009 GamesCom event in Cologne at Sony’s press conference. Then came the final teaser statement, “he’s making his list and checking it twice,” perhaps Gran Turismo 5 will be launched right around the Christmas rush? It is by far the biggest racing sim ever made, and if Sony releases it this holiday season, things will go wild.

Even better would be a GT5 PS3 Slim bundle. Think about it, along with a price cut, Sony could make millions of gamers the world over extremely happy campers to say the least. So what say you? Do you think it’s another rumor that will be killed, or will GT5 be released in December? Share your thoughts.
