Halo 3: ODST has Generated over $125 million in sales

You'd think after becoming the third fastest selling game on the Xbox 360, Halo 3: ODST would slow its pace, well according to some reports, not only is the game still to this day flying off store shelves, it's proving to be a cash cow for Microsoft and Bungie. The game thus far has generated over $125 million in sales and it hasn't been out for a month, giving even more evidence why the Halo franchise is a force is be reckoned with.

USA today is also reporting that comics, books, videos, and action figures are planned for the next six years adding more value to Microsoft's killer app. And according to Frank O'Connor "eventually it will become very apparent that their is a plan for the way the canon all ties together and the way the comic books and the novels all tie together," he said.

Uncharted 2 overtakes Halo 3: ODST on amazon's bestsellers list

October 13th is closing in, and on amazon's bestsellers list Uncharted 2: Among Thieves is the best selling video game as of today.

Take a look for yourself, the only contender to Naughty Dog's critically acclaimed title is the Nintendo Wii which recently received a price cut. If this keeps up, it's not hard to see Uncharted selling at least 1 million units in the first week, which in my humble opinion would be well deserved. There's nothing to scoff at concerning Halo 3: ODST however, the game ruled the bestsellers list for months, and the recent drop probably means finally ODTS's momentum is abating.

Props to Bungie for making an excellent game for Xbox 360 fans, now it's the PS3 owners turn to stay up all night "among thieves" hunting for treasures all the while leading Drake on a world wide death defying adventure in what many critics proclaim as the best single player experience they've ever had. Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will be available October 13th and 16th in the US and Europe respectively.

Halo 3: ODST is now third fastest selling title on Xbox360

Call it want you want, but one thing you can't call Halo 3: ODST is a failure. Many critics were hard on Bungie's latest effort, accusing Microsoft of charging full price for what in their opinion is an extension pack. Well it seems nothing can keep the great franchise down, even after sending Master Chief on a much needed vacation. The final data is in, and Halo 3: ODST has proven to be one of the most successful franchise on the 360.

Not only did the game manage to sell 1.8 million copies on the first day it was available, (which is less than what was estimated) It also became the third fastest selling game in the Xbox360's History. Now if that's not cause to celebrate nothing is; this must be encouraging to Bungie and Microsoft, demonstrating yet again the strength of the Halo franchise.

The game sold over 1.7 million copies in North America, 50,000 in France, 20,000 in Japan and around 230,000 in the United Kingdom. See the full break down of life-to-date sales of the all time best sellers on the Xbox360 here.

Halo 3: ODST is available exclusively on the Xbox 360 and is in stores worldwide now.

Bethesda's Production Director: Microsoft 'totally bungled' OSDT marketing

Halo 3: ODST is a great game. Yes, may be overpriced to some, but still, the fact remains Bungie has delivered once more. Over at Bethesda, Ashley Cheng believes the uproar could've been avoided if Microsoft hadn't "totally bungled" the game's marketing. Cheng says on his blog that, "reviewers are now mentioning that Halo 3: ODST may not be worth the price point, that it should've been cheaper, etc... give me a break."

Cheng contends Microsoft, voicing that if they'd only kept a persistent note on what the game was, and not waver back and fourth, this wouldn't have been an issue. He says, "First saying it was a standalone extension pack, then coming out and saying wait, no, we're charging full price because - surprise! we put 'more' stuff in it and it's called Halo 3: ODST now, vs the original title, Halo 3: Recon."

Wow, pretty ticked off I see. Bungie in a recent interview with Joystiq, tried their best to justify the price point, expressing that Halo 3: ODST is indeed a full, well produced game. For some, that still won't suffice. Check out the interview after the jump.

Bungie is ‘Close’ to signing a new IP deal with undisclosed Publisher

We all know that Halo Reach will be Bungie’s last in the saga, but you didn’t think the guys would just pack their bags, close down their studio and go dreaming of Halo forever then then end up working at Burger King did you? Of course not, in fact Bungie’s Lars Bakken, the same guy who broke the news concerning Halo reach being the studio’s last, is now quenching our thirst even better with some new information. He says:

"I think internally we'll know sometime soon. I don't handle these things, but I'd imagine we're going to know way before we make the public announcement of who's handling that! But sure, I think those talks are, I guess, close."

That’s very good news if you ask me. Bungie is undoubtedly one of the better developers in the industry, and will definitely deliver a solid experience no matter what this new IP turns out to be. Also this new game has been in development for over a year, which leads me to believe that soon we’ll be getting more info. Incase you’re wondering, Bungie is not tied down to a particular platform either. Good news? We’ll have to wait and see.
