RUMOR: PS3 SLIM SURFACES IN THE PHILIPPINES?

If you live on planet earth and you are an avid gamer, then you must have heard about the rumors that a new iteration of the Playstation 3 was in production. In fact reports say that contracts were awarded to Foxconn and Pegatron to build new PS3s with each company awarded 50% of the orders. Developers and gamers alike have been literally pounding down Sony’s doors asking for a price cut of the Black Behemoth. The cries got so loud that one Bobby Kotick (Activision’s CEO) threatened to drop all of Sony’s platforms if they did not drop the price of the PS3, here’s what he said:

"They have to cut the price, because if they don't, the attach rates (the number of games each console owner buys) are likely to slow," Kotick said. "If we are being realistic, we might have to stop supporting Sony." As for the timing on that, he adds: "When we look at 2010 and 2011, we might want to consider if we support the console--and the PSP (portable) too."

Yeah right Mr. Kotick go ahead and sabotage almost half of all your sales; psst. Anyway Bigger news or should I say “rumor” has just blast us right in the face. Examiner.com is reporting that the PS3 slim is apparently selling on the streets of The Philippines at a local underground street vendor. What?! There’s actual video of some guys talking about the rumored new machine and it’s specs. Is it real or fake? You decide. Some reports say Sony might be preparing to ship the new PS3 as early as July so this new piece of rumor is very interesting to say the least. An employee at GameTrailers said, “Sony can’t keep leaks” and this PS3 Slim “is real.”

Here’s some of the rumored specs of the rumored slick new Beast:

1) 120GB HDD
2) 2 USB Ports
3) PS icon white and not colored
4) No more Playstation 3 rather is now PS3

What do you think?
