I’ve been a long time fan of the SOCOM games from the beginning, and I will admit my initial disappointment when Sony announced that the next installment would be online only. Come to think of it, I’m still a bit irritated about the fact this awesome game was never given a single player mode like it’s predecessors. But by the looks of things, SOCOM Confrontation is doing very well.
Infact joystiq reports that a Sony Producer says the online only shooter is bigger than Killzone 2 and Resistance by having the most connections at the same time on the Playstation Network. This is surprising to say the least, beating out games like Killzone 2. On the other hand, the SOCOM fan base has been very loyal to keep the online community alive for mighty long and with no signs of slowing. There’s a patch on it’s way, and DLC is promised for the future, so sleep in peace at nights all you SOCOM confrontation fans, this game will be alive for a very long time.
