Aaron Greenberg: Xbox 360 Owners Not into HDMI, still play games using AV output

While the HD revolution is in full swing, Xbox 360 owners could care less. If Aaron Greenberg is to be taken at his word, then Xbox 360 gamers haven't being enjoying high quality video output as make believe. Here's what he said:

"First we looked at the research, which shows that the majority of consumers who purchased an Elite console were not using the HDMI cable."

In a generation where graphics is as important as any other aspect of a game, it's surprising that 360 owners don't bother to use a high definition cable that was once packaged with the Elite console. The reason may be one I'll never find out, but surely there must be one; the most obvious drawback could be that, gamers rather buy games for their consoles, than invest in HDTV sets. But with the price of said televisions being drastically lowered, I'm still dumbfounded as to why this is the case. Share your thoughts, let us know what you think.

  2. I - for one - use only HDMI on my Xbox 360 and PS3, Hell I bought an HDMI-compatible 32" LCD to enjoy HD Gaming!

  3. I have a 360. I love it. I use a regular TV. I don't mind it. I occasionally bring my 360 to the HD TV downstairs if I feel like it. But I don't see the point usually.

and in reply to "the conscience," the wii sucks
    pce out.

  4. lol @ the conscience, that's a good one. Hey, say what you want about Nintendo, but they're making a Continent load of money off the Wii. And rumors have it they might release an upgraded version in 2011, with features and specs same as the PS3 and Xbox 360.

They have the money to do it.

  6. Hey Drew, I love the 360, it's an awesome console. Microsoft has done an excellent job at staying ahead this generation.

But don't you think it would be better if more 360 owners could play their games in HD glory? I certainly think so.

The way I see it is, once you go HD, you can't look back. But then again, that's just me. : )

  7. I see what you're saying Sniper, Nintendo seems to have left the hardcore gamers in the dark this generation. But like I said, hopefully they could rectify their mistake in 2011.

    Wii 2?

  8. I was under the impression that the USA, having HDTVs with component connections for years, was behind Europe and Japan in getting HDMI-enabled sets. They didn't need an HDMI cable because they already had millions of HDTVs with component cables out there. So 360 owners could get HD without needing an HDMI cable. Whereas here in Europe, we're only just getting HD, so all HD sets have HDMI and every PS3 or 360 owner I know uses HDMI to connect their console to their TV.

  9. I may be a blu ray snob but who can blame me. I now refuse to watch the movies i really wanna see on dvd i just refuse. Once you go HD and blu ray you dont go back trust me. Every now and then ill throw in a dvd but luckily my ps3 upscales my dvd's to 1080p. Most xbox 360 owners dont use hdmi or hdtv's because they are all kids i mean come on there moms not gonna go buy them an HD entertainment area.

  10. If I couldn't use my HDMI cable for my Xbox then I probably wouldn't even play it. Once you go HD it's hard to go back.

  12. well your just a rich snob, do u really need Xbox 360s and Ps3s, when u got the power of a PC. Much more powerful and better looking. Yes it's bigger but hey the normal PS3 ain't exactly small is it? As for the 360 yes it is a kids console, PS3 is more extreme anyday. If u ain't got blu-ray u must b gay, hear what I say, good day. :)
