Silent Hill: Shattered Memories now has a release date

For those of you who've been looking forward to the Nintendo Wii remake of the original Silent Hill, you will be happy to know that the wait won't be much longer.

Silent Hill: Shattered Memories will be released on the Wii in North America on
December 8th of this year, just in time for Christmas.

'Shattered Memories' is more then just a graphical enhancement over the original too, as this title shakes things up quite a bit with new controls and gameplay far different from what Silent Hill veterans are used to.

The Playstation 2 and PSP versions of the game have no confirmed release dates yet but we're willing to bet it won't be far off from the Wii's.

Sony made great strides with GOW I&II updates

Man has Sony done a 180 in marketing or what? After an abysmal launch of the Playstation 3 and 3yrs of struggling to get any traction, they've completely turned things around with the launch of PS3 slim and a great new comedy driven add campaign. Then they go and announce that not only are they going to give us God of War 3 in March of 2010, but before that they will giving us the first 2 games in remastered HD goodness.

After checking out the new gameplay vid in HD from the first two God of War titles, excitement ensues. I cant help but think this is what David Jaffe's origianl vision of the series was meant to be. Hit the
link to check out the vid from GameTraliers.com. This is pure marketing genius from the folks at Sony, but also a great service to gamers everywhere. On Nov. 17th PS3 owners will get a chance to experience the first 2 games in the series all over again in full HD. Check back soon for the Reloaded Review of the God of War Collection here at GameThirst.

Sony says, ‘P.S. Thanks’

And the trademarks keep coming, this time from Sony. SCEA filed a trademark application (#77794416) for a service called “P.S. Thanks.”

The application states that “P.S. Thanks” is meant to be an “incentive rewards program geared toward quantifying, identifying and motivating top consumer base with the goal of promotion and sale of video game hardware and software.

I’m looking forward to more details concerning ’P.S. Thanks’ so we could know what this is about. Of course speculators are coming up with all sorts of theories of what it might be. And recently Sony sent out an email to Journalists which says:

"As you know, we have a long history of creating unique loyalty programs such as PlayStation Underground which started with the original PlayStation and has evolved into the Gamer Advisory Panel (GAP). We continue to look for ways to expand this program and simply are evaluating new naming conventions for this evolution."

We’ll keep you posted…
