Capcom Delays Lost Planet 2, Monster Hunter Tri and Super Street Fighter IV

We've been trumpeting this for a while now and it seems a company is finally taking heed and making a wise choice by pushing some of its biggest 2010 releases later into the year, to prevent their titles from getting lost amongst the plethora of other big name games which will release in the first quarter of 2010.

Lost Planet, Monster Hunter Tri and Super Street Fighter IV were all scheduled to be released in the January to March time frame of 2010, but an inverstor document revealed that all three have been pushed later into the year. The documents states the reasons for the push back is to "Avoid competing with major titles that other companies plan to introduce in the fourth quarter, another reason according to the document is to "Preserve the value of Capcom's titles and maximize sales volume" and "to expand the lineup of titles in the next fiscal year and afterward."

The three aforementioned titles will join Dead Rising 2 and unannounced "other major titles" in the new fiscal year, with their releases "spread across all four quarters of the fiscal year to prevent an excessive contribution from new titles in the fourth quarter."

Although I was looking forward to Lost Planet 2, I must admit the decision was a wise one. Those games would only be ignored with big names like Mass Effect 2, Splinter Cell: Conviction, Final Fantasy XIII and God of War III. You don't want to your game to release anywhere near said titles; it'll most likely fail.

First Super Street Fighter IV gameplay videos

Capcom waisted no time with this one. The success of Street Fighter IV propelled them into doing what they've always done, give us like, (six?) different versions of the same game. But you are not complaining are you? Okay, maybe you are complaining. Well if you already purchased the recently released Street Fighter IV, then don't fret, you're not missing out of much, unless you're a SF freak and can't get enough, then I see no reason to pick this one up.

Although to compensate for its early arrival, Capcom said the game wouldn't retail at full price, still I hear gamers yelling, contending the release of yet another SF game. I'll stay out of this one, but you can jump right in the fray and share your thoughts. Video after the jump.

Super Street Fighter IV Confirmed, available spring 2010

Ah, another round in the everlasting Street Fighter saga, but I'm not complaining, and I suspect neither are you. It seems gamespot's got all the info coming from the man himself, producer Yoshinori Ono.

SSIV won't be some DLC type let down however, it'll be a stand alone disc based game. Also, you won't have to dole out $60 for this one, although its worth that much, Capcom knows a thing or two about hard times, therefore they won't hurt your pocket.

The game will feature eight new characters, including Dee Jay and T. Hawk. Also, new upgrades and tweaks were added, accumulated from community feedback.

Look for it spring 2010 on PS3 and Xbox 360. Get full details here.
