Is Batman Arkham Asylum being overlooked for GOTY?

Batman AA was an excellent game, sure it had it's issues but what game doesn't? Over the past month Uncharted 2 was released and just today the golden cow Modern Warfare 2 burst onto the scene. Both of these games are in the discussion for goty right now, but doesn't Batman deserve some mention?

The title shouldn't be left out of the conversation, in fact more people should jump on the bandwagon to encourage developers like Rocksteady to take chances on new ideas and games. When this game dropped pretty much all the main stream gaming publications gave it 9's or better. This title alone revolutionized what a "super hero" game should feel and play like. There has not been a better portrayal of the Dark Knight in all his splendor taking out the Joker and his henchmen along with a few super villains on the way. Once the game is over you then have a gang of challenge rooms to beat.

On the Ps3 side of things you also have a chance to get down with the Clown Prince and beat up prison guards and even Commissioner Gordon himself. Batman actually brought something new to the table instead of just a graphics face lift with a few extra modes on something that was already a high quality product. Batman games starting on the NES all the way up to previous generations have been pure garbage; this version is like a reboot for the Batman series. Isn't that what a game of the year nominee should do for you?

Uncharted 2: Among Thieves will win GOTY 2009

This came as no surprise really, 777 of you voted in our weekly poll (winning numbers by the way) and approximately 598 voted Uncharted 2: Among Thieves Game Of The Year 2009. Call of Duty: Modern warfare 2 came in a distant second securing 9 percent, the equivalent of 74 votes. The hype surrounding Uncharted 2 is not unwarranted, since the demo was shown at E3, demand for Naughty Dogs latest effort have reached fever pitch levels. For some, October 13th or 16, depending on what part of the world you live in can't come soon enough. We understand.

Many great games are coming out for the holidays, and most people won't have the money to purchase all. We're just out of a worldwide recession, and consumers are wisely making decisions on what packs the most value for their buck, a sentiment I totally agree with. For gamers it's no different, there's only so much cash to spend on games, after all, there's life apart from gaming; some got wives, girlfriends, children, co-workers, you get my point. I know I'd be in the doghouse if instead of getting my wife a gift, I went out and purchase games; There are people in our lives that we must spend time and money on in order to keep relationships relevant. Here's the question: If you were to purchase one game this Holiday season, what would it be? This should be interesting. If you asked me, there's no doubt it would be Uncharted 2: Among Thieves, but that's me. Let your "vote" be heard.

New details on Team ICO’s The Last Guardian surface

Although it’s scant, we were able to grab some new details concerning this highly anticipated title that’ll surely raise the bar to uncharted heights again. In the upcoming September issue of Playstation: The Official Magazine, information about the storyline and characters were divulged.

The game being the third from Team ICO, will center on the evolving relationship between a boy and his large mythical creature, (we already knew that), that creature is called “Trico” in the Japanese version. At first the creature will be hostile towards the boy, but as the boy cares for the creature, cleaning it, playing with it and feeding it, that relationship, or bond will grow.

Overtime, the boy will use the creature to solve platforming puzzles, but the creature is alive and acts naturally, as if it were a real animal. Persuading it to do what you need will take patience and guile, not force.

Be sure to pick up the magazine on store shelves everywhere for some more details concerning The Last Guardian. The game will utilize a physics engine, which is a first for the ICO Team, so don’t be surprised if you’re left in awe by the graphics that will be rendered. According to PTOM, even those feathers you see in that image will individually ruffle in the wind.

Just mind blowing is my conclusion on this one, Team ICO has never disappoint; and by the looks of things, The Last Guardian will again be, one for the history books.

Modern Warfare 2 ‘Hardened Edition’ It’s $80

Are you planning on buying your wife or girlfriend any gifts come this holiday season? You should. You can’t put video games before your lady; that’s what you’ve been doing eh? Well sadly that trend won’t stop because if my calendar is right, there won’t be enough cash for the most of us to go buying all of this… (I’ll be getting the Hardened Edition mind you) but what about my wife’s new laptop? How’s it on your side? You might have to sacrifice some games this fall, or sacrifice your relationship that is unless your lady is a gamer.

Steel case, night vision goggles, an art book and Call of Duty Classic on XBLA or PSN all for $80, the info was released by Infinity Ward spokesman Robert Bowling via twitter.

One more thing, look carefully at the Hardened box, did you notice anything missing? Look harder, there’s no Call of Duty in sight; just Modern Warfare 2. Confusing to say the least.
