Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker comes to the U.S. on May 25th, EU May 28th

Kojima and his team are putting the finishing touches on Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker, the highly anticipated PSP title. According Kojima-san, it is the true sequel to Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots.

As you may know, anything the man touches becomes gold, and surely, if we're to go on what he's delivered in the past, Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be another Triple A title.

Get your hands on it in the U.S. on May 25th, 2010, and in EU on May 28th, 2010.

Can't wait for this one.

Video Thirst: Silent Hill: Shattered Memories Wii

If you own a Wii, then you're in for a scary treat from Konami, quench after the read.

Many have question whether Konami could pull off a decent Silent Hill game on the Wii and this latest video released from the publishing giant is a resounding yes. Some have even stated that the game is the "Wii's Alan Wake".

Silent Hill: Shattered memories is the remainder of the first Silent Hill game, and will be available in stores and e-stores near you come December 8th. No date set for Europe.

Legendary composer leaves Konami after 16yrs

The composer behind Silent Hill's trademark sounds, Akira Yamaoka, has left Konami after 16 years according to Aeropause.

Yamaoka composed the music for every Silent Hill title except Silent Hill: Play Novel for GBA and "Esperandote" in the first game, which was written by Rika Muranaka.

The news comes from a very reliable source inside Konami.

Kojima: Peace Walker Will Make You Buy PSP

If there's anyone who should be taken seriously when he speaks it's Hideo Kojima; the man is a legend in his own rights, accomplishing what only few have in the gaming industry. Now he's teasing something that, according to him will make you go out and purchase a PSP.

I have no clue what it might be but I'll be taking some guesses after the interview. Here's Kojima talking to Japanese magazine Famitsu:

"I'm putting everything I want to do on a portable console into this game," Kojima said. "I haven't announced this yet, but there's another feature here that will surprise people, to the point that they will want to go out and buy a PSP right now!"

Okay, here are my efforts:

1. Snake singing a song (Snake Eater).

2. Feature giving you access to special items (guns) in Metal Gear Solid: Rising

3. It'll inject your PSP with nanomachines that'll build you a second analog? (I ripped this one off, too hilarious!)

And there you have it, those are my (minus one) guesses, now it's your turn. Metal Gear Solid: Peace Walker will be available for Sony's handheld sometime in 2010.

Metal Gear Solid Movie is a go. Snake, is that you?

All those in favor of Hollywood producing a Metal Gear Solid feature film raise your hand? One quarter of you? I see. And I certainly understand; given its track record of cannibalising movie iteration of video games, your skepticism is well founded. So when news broke that a movie version of Metal Gear Solid was in the works, the gaming community had a lot to say. Some were in favor, most were not, and others, well others were cursing at Hollywood even before work on the film had begun. I feel the same way; it would be a total disaster if Hollywood were to tarnish Kojima's reputation of quality by delivering a half baked movie not worthy of Metal Gear status. I cringe at the thought.

And at the same time, I rest assured, knowing that Kojimasan is very particular with his work, and would accept nothing less than stellar, when it comes to the world wide phenomena that's Metal Gear Solid. In May 2006, Kojima announced that Metal Gear Solid the Movie was in development, being done in English, and that a contract had been negotiated with a party in Hollywood to produce the film. As youremgm reports, David Hayter, the voice actor for Solid Snake has submitted his take for the movie, but executives have passed on the script. Rumors have been hovering for a while, with all sorts of wild speculation of who will be the lead actor, who'll write the story, and the different actors and actresses involved. Personally, I don't really care, as long it does justice to the venerable MGS saga, then I'll be satisfied. How about you, do you think MGS should be handed over the Hollywood? Or should they keep their greasy hands off? Tell me.

Sales sink at Konami, Snake is not around to help

Konami recently released their quarterly earnings for the Period April 1 to June 30th. But compared to the same time last year, sales were depressingly lower.

It comes as no surprise though, because last year millions of people from around the world were purchasing copies of the mega-hit Metal Gear Solid 4: Guns of the Patriots. This year though, the story's different, as people are not buying the game anymore and Konami did not have much to bring on the table.

The company's digital entertainment division reported 44.9 billion yen in net revenues.

However for the last quarter, that was down to 24.6 billion yen. The gaming division had even worst results, down 13.2 billion yen compared to last year's 1.5 billion.

Don't be fooled, konami got some blockbuster hits lined up, and this loss is just for one quarter. Pro Evolution Soccer will be out in October, one of Konami's main breadwinner. Expect things to pick up again. soon.
