Greenberg: "2010 Will Be A Bigger Year [For Xbox 360] Than 2009, No Doubt"

Many journalists have concluded that 2009 was not a stellar year for Xbox 360, in fact it has been deemed as the worst since Microsoft launched the console in 2005. Greenberg would not agree that 2009 was the worst, but he reckons 2010 will beat out last year by miles, "no doubt."

Talking up the Xbox 360's success against PS3's by comparing NPD November 2009 software sales side-by-side, Major Nelson said: "Assassin's Creed II on 360 roughly almost 2-1 PS3, you have Left 4 Dead 2, there's a bunch of 360 stuff on the top 10, we've got 1, 2, 3, 4 titles. Modern Warfare 2 at the top, Assassin's Creed II came in 4th, Left 4 Dead 2 came in 5th and Dragon Age on 360 came in 9th - that's a pretty good month," Major said.

Aaron Greenberg followed with some numbers and analysis of his own: "I think what a lot of people don't realize is that it's not just about selling hardware, it's also about the total ecosystem and we drove more consumer spending for the month than the Wii or the PS3," he said, "so if you look at consumers dollars on hardware, software, accessories - we have more dollars spent on our platform than any other platform - that's a really big indicator," he continued.

"The second piece is for third party partners, how did they do? - if you look at third party software sales: EA, Activision, Ubisoft, these guys, they sold more games on the Xbox 360 than the Wii and the PS3 combined (laughter and amazement in the studio). So it was a huge month, really really great results and I think it just solidifies what we think will be a banner year for us.

He went on to predict what 2010 will be like for Xbox 360: "Heading into what I think 2010, I mean you always say wow! great year, great year - 2010, hands down will be a bigger year than 2009 I have no doubt."

And there you have it, if you own an Xbox 360 then have no fear, because according to the execs, there'll be no lack on content for you to spend cash on. Here's the question, compared to PS3 do you think Xbox 360 can compete next year in the exclusive department? Let us know in the comments below.

Video Thirst: Alan Wake runs!

Alan Wake sure knows how to run, as shown in this new vid from GameTrailers. In it, he moves his legs as fast as possible to get away from the cops.

Looks pretty good to be honest, so you should watch the full thing after the read.

There's a full playthrough of the level that writer Sam Lake was explaining earlier in the year. In fact we have here three videos to quench your thirst as you wait on the title to hit store shelves.

Alan Wake will be promoted in a Hollywood-blockbuster-fashion according to Microsoft, a sign that the software giant is placing a lot of bets on the game being a huge success.

It's developed by Remedy Entertainment and will be out next spring. May next spring. No one knows what's happening with the PC version of the game. Not even Remedy.

Quench your thirst.

Alan Wake will keep you awake in May 2010

Alan Wake has been in production for five years according to the developers of the game, and now, according to MCV you'll be playing the title in May of 2010. Finally it seems the wait is almost over.

According to the website's source, said title will receive a Hollywood-movie-style promotion and will be released globally late in the month.

The game's about a writer who's wife disappeared and he embarks on the frighteningly dangerous adventure to find her.

Xbox 360 fans have been anxiously awaiting Alan Wake and with good reason; the title looks very promising. According to Remedy which developed the game, they could've have released the title any time of their choosing, but they wanted to make sure that a title which has been in development for so long, delivers on all fronts. A sentiment I tend to agree with. If you're going to do something, then by all means do it good, great even. I'm definitely looking forward to this one.

Review copies of Alan Wake may not contain an ending

The developers of the highly anticipated Alan Wake are being very secretive about the game's story. They are worried about potential spoiler leaks so much that they are in discussions with Microsoft on whether to leave the ending off the discs that are sent to reviewers prior to the game's release.

"I think we're going to be insanely careful about how much of the story we reveal," said Remedy Entertainment managing director Matias Myllyrinne. "We'll clearly discuss with some of our friends at Microsoft whether we even give the ending of the game for anybody's preview. I'd like to hold it back, [I] don't want anybody to spoil it for the audience. That's just my personal feeling."

It's understandable that they would go to such great lengths to hide the story considering how often spoilers erupt onto the net before a title is released. We can clearly see this as fact considering what has already been released for Modern Warfare 2.

Alan Wake could've been released much earlier says director, been in development since 2005

Not many can remember when Alan Wake was announced; that's how long the title has been in the making, in fact speaking to EGTV managing director of Remedy Entertainment Matias Myllyrinne said jokingly, "some of your parents might remember when we initiated the project," he said. It's no joke for Xbox 360 owners who've been waiting on this title for years, however according Matias Remedy entertainment has been working tirelessly to make sure Alan Wake pans out be the blockbuster it should.

In an interview with EGTV Matias Mylllyrinne fielded some questions to which he gave honest answers:

EGTV: It's been in the works for a while... is the tech still up to scratch?

"Some of your parents might remember when we initiated the project (laughing) nah I mean seriously the tech's come a long way we've constantly kept improving and building on it and we, we already had a lot of good fundamentals there uh, very early on so our streaming technology was awesome - we've improved a lot of the um, kind of the gameplay related AI stuff and so fourth but also a lot of the rendering and the technical art stuff has gone, gone forward as you can probably tell from some of the trailers that we've released."

EGTV then asked how long has the game been in development to which he Matias answered:

"It's been since 2005 so it's - we've be crafting this thing and for us I mean we could've put something out much earlier to be honest uh, and it would've been probably okay, but for us um, we only want to come out with a game when we have something to say and a point to make so when gamers put down their hard earned cash on a game the Remedy brand on that box needs to be a seal of quality so they're getting a certain movie like experience with good story and a good character - that really is key for us."

Alan wake is shaping out to be a must buy for 360 owners and will also be available for PC. Expect it to hit the market spring 2010, see the full interview here.
